Post Installation Instructions

  1. Configure Administrator access
    • First configure access to the Agent Alert object. Navigate to Setup > Manage Users > Profiles > [Profile to Edit] > Object Settings > Agent Alerts and make sure the profile has access to the tab, full object permissions, as well as read and edit access to all fields on the Agent Alert object.
    • Next configure access to the Visualforce Pages. Navigate to Setup> Manage Users > Profiles > [Profile to Edit] > Visualforce Page Access and enable access to crmfra.RecordAlertConfigurator and crmfra.RecordAlertView, as well as any of the object based pages like crmfra.RecordAlertAccount. To add Visualforce pages for other objects, see full documentation.
    • Next configure access to the Agent Alert Filter object. Follow the previous steps and modify the Agent Alert Filter object and ensure the profile has full object promotions, as well as read and edit access to all fields on the Agent Alert Filter object.
  2. Configure User access
    • First configure access to the objects. Navigate to the object settings and make sure the profile has read access to the Agent Alert and Agent Alert Filter objects as well as read access to all the fields on both objects.
    • Next configure access to the Visualforce Pages. Navigate to the Visualforce page access and enable access to Visualforce pages for the specific objects the users have access to. For example the crmfra.RecordAlertAccount if the users have access to the Account object. You don't have to worry about users being exposed to any information they don't have access to on the account because the object checks object and field access for every alert before the alerts are displayed for the user.
  3. Add the appropriate Visualforce Page to the correct object page layouts
    • Navigate to the edit page for any layout you would like to add alerts to. Drag the Visualforce page to the location you would like it on the layout, then edit the section to turn scrollbars on unless you have a good idea that there won't be many messages for a record on the specified object.
    • Page Layout Setup Step 1
    • Page Layout Setup Step 2
  4. Creating and viewing your first test alert
    • To create a new Agent Alert, navigate to the Agent Alerts tab and click the New button.
      • The name is a meaningful name for you to find the alert but has no impact on functionality
      • Active enables the agent alert
      • Object API Name is the Object that this alert will work on
      • The Alert Message field is the message that will be displayed on the Account if the Account matches the filter criteria.
      • The Filters are where you add the criteria on whether or not to display this object. For this example we'll use the Account Name field and check if it contains "test".
      • New Record Alert Screenshot
    • Save the record
  5. Create a test account, and view the alert you just created
